Artistic Director and founder

Why the festival was formed

Around 2012 Kathleen was watching Contact Improvisation videos on YouTube and enjoying it so much that she thought someone should create a platform for these films. The seed was planted and kept growing in her mind until she decided that she would be that person. She wanted it to be an all-level film festival just like contact jams are all-level gatherings. This means the festival programs films from emerging filmmakers or films with lower production value alongside professionally made films with high production values. If the film has something important to say, we will screen it. The inaugural Contact Dance Film Festival occurred in 2013 since then the festival has uplifted contact improvisation filmmaking and the form itself.
